State Fair of Texas

State Fair of Texas is a 24 days showcase of entertainment, exhibits and competition. Every year during Fall season, Texas always opens the biggest fair, the State Fair of Texas. Here you can do all sort of things such as play games, go on many different rides, learn history of Texas, eat delicious foods such as corndog, hot dog, nacho, and turkey legs, and enjoy live entertainment such as live music, shows, livestock shows.

According to the official website of State Fair of Texas, during the season, State Fair opens 24/7. This place was founded in Dallas in 1886 by a group of civic leaders who wanted to focus attention on their young city’s accomplishments and prospects; the State Fair of Texas has consistently offered its visitors a first look at the newest and best in products and performances.

Texas most famous and largest mascot is Big Tex. According to the official website of State Fair of Texas, he made his debut at the 1952 State Fair of Texas. Wearing size 70 boots and a 75-gallon hat, Tex towered 52' above wide-eyed visitors. His denim jeans and plaid shirt were donated by the H. D. Lee Company of Shawnee Mission, Kansas. Cosmetic surgery the following year straightened his nose, corrected a lascivious wink and allowed him to talk.

State Fair of Texas’s entertainment include pig race, bird show, car show include future car, science museum where you can learn all sort of science things, live music, and at night they have awesome laser show. These entertainments are only a portion of the whole program. There are so many fun things that I didn’t get chance to do it. They even have BMX stunt show. In case if you don’t know what is BMX stunt show it’s a bicycle and dirt bike show where they do all sort of awesome tricks. These are also rides and games. One of the most famous rides here is the “Star of Texas”. This is the largest Ferris wheel in Texas. It’s so high that when you get to the top; you can see almost the entire Dallas area. There are also roller coaster and other small rides but I don’t really remember the other ride. At the fair, there are games where you can play and win prices too. When you are hungry, there is always the food court. Here at State Fair, they may have hotdog, corndog, turkey leg, and nacho but it is very delicious, and they have snack such as cotton candy, drinks, and other snacks.

State Fair of Texas is definitely a excellent place to hang out with friends and family. If you ever have chance to visit Texas and it happen to be Fall season, you definitely need to go to State Fair. There are so many things I can not explain if you have any question, you can visit www.bigtex.comBig Tex

Dear Nguyen
On your first introduction paragraph, seems not very clear to me. I didn't quite get what you want to talk about food or time with family or other things you want to describe?

Also on your body paragraph, could you describe more about the State fair , I understand you talk about showcase and exhibition , but I'm curious of waht kind of exhibit?

Hi Nguyen! I read your essay and I find it interesting. I have never been to State Fair of Texas and it seems like this is a great place to visit. But I think that your essay needs some improvement. The introduction is not clear enough. Whom did you visit the fair with? With your friend or family? You can try to make it clear. The historical description is good but I think you should reorganize some passages. I think some of them can be connected into one. You gave a good explanation for how the fair looked in the past but I guess you should give more details about the fair fun activities and atmosphere nowadays. What can we do there? Why is it so much fun? How everything looks there today? (Give the reader some more physical description.) Why is it such an important place to go? Try to attract the readers' attention. Give some interesting facts that will make them think about the time they are going to spend at State Fair of Texas!

Not all of my students will know what a state fair is. Please provide a definition in your introduction. You don't really give a personal account. What did you do at the State Fair? Why did you like it? Let us try to imagine it through your eyes.
